Ascension : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Bidding Prayers for Ascension Day.

The Priest introduces the prayers:

On this day when Christ our Lord ascended into heaven, we make our prayers for the Church and the world, trusting that the Father will answer them out of love for his Son.

Reader:

We pray for the catholic Church,

may Christians use the media wisely and creatively to spread the Gospel and to build God’s Kingdom of justice and truth.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for peace, and an end to hatred,

may God rid the world of violence and terrorism

So all people may serve him in freedom.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them,

may they always feel Christ's presence with them

in the midst of their suffering.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for the dead,

may Christ, who has gone before us into heaven,

prepare a place for us all in his eternal kingdom.

Lord, hear us.

With the Mother of Jesus, we pray. Hail Mary … .

Let us pray in silence to our Father in heaven.

The Priest concludes the prayers:

Father, just as your Son ascended to you,

may our prayers rise up before your throne,

and may our requests be granted.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sixth Sunday of Easter (A) : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Bidding Prayers for Sixth Sunday of Easter

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Brothers and sisters in Christ, Christ commands us to show our love for him and for the Father by loving one another. By our love the power of Christ's resurrection is made known to the world. Let us now show our love in our prayers for the Church and for the world

Reader:
We pray for the leaders of the Church,
may all the bishops be open to the promptings of the Spirit, and through him grow in the fullness of wisdom and truth and love.
Lord, in your mercy. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world.
May the whole world rejoice in the gift of love,
that hatred and bloodshed may come to an end.
Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for all those doing examinations at this time.
May the Spirit inspire them in their work,
that they may reap their just rewards.
Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for all who suffer and for those who care for them.
May God strengthen them in their discomfort,
as he shows them his love.
Lord, in your mercy.

We pray for the holy souls.
As Our Lord said “you will see me, because I live and you will live”,
May his promises be fulfilled in those we love, but see no longer.
Lord, in your mercy.

In the month of Our Lady, let us ask her to pray for us and with us as we say Hail Mary .

Let us pray for a moment in silence to God.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, you have not left us orphans
but sent us the Holy Spirit
in whose power we make our prayer to you.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter 5 : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Easter Five (Year A)

The Priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters, with joy at Christ's rising from the dead, let us turn to God our Father in prayer. He heard and answered the prayers of the Son who loved us so much: let us trust that he will hear our petitions.

Reader:
Let us pray for the Church throughout the world,
that the Bishops of the Church will always lead us
in the way, truth and life of the risen Jesus.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for those in authority,
that the Lord may direct them in the ways of truth. Where they are right, may the Lord strengthen and confirm them; where they are in error, may he direct them for the good of all people.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for the sick and those who care for them:
that Christ may be the cornerstone of their lives
and a firm hope in times of trouble.
Lord, hear us.

With Mary, who already shares in the resurrection, we pray, Hail Mary .

Now, let us make our private petitions to our heavenly Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Hear our prayers, Father, as we place our hope in you. In your unfailing goodness grant that in prosperity we will not lose our zeal, and in adversity have faith and endurance. This we ask through Jesus the Lord. Amen.
